What is the shortest amount of time it takes from the moment we apply for a license reinstatement hearing in Illinois until the time our client is actually driving? If you are looking to reinstate your Illinois driver's license after being convicted of a DUI charge, most of my clients ask how fast we can get them driving legally. The answer is as follows…
Step 1 – We apply for license reinstatement on Day 1. We will probably get a letter back from the Secretary of State giving us a hearing around Day 45.
Step 2 – Hearing is on the 45th day. Important. You do not obtain your results from the Secretary of State on the day of the formal license reinstatement hearing. You wait 6-8 weeks for the Secretary of State to give you your answer.
Step 3 – Days 75 – 90 – You will typically get your results from 75-90 days from the date that you apply for a license reinstatement hearing.
If you live inside the State of Illinois and are revoked for a DUI or if you have any questions about how to clear your license from outside of Illinois, feel free to post a question or contact the office anytime.
