Out of State Client Remote Hearing - Granted Full Reinstatement
April 2024
Our client never had to come into Illinois to get cleared up!
This client lived outside the State of Illinois and because he had a valid state ID from where he resided, and because he was eligible statutorily, we were able to have a remote video hearing with the Secretary of State for his formal administrative hearing process. The client had two DUI charges with the most recent being from 2015 in the State of Indiana, had developed a high risk dependency to alcohol, but because he had obtained a nontraditional support group and had been abstinent for several years before our hearing, he was able to testify to Secretary of State that he was addressing his addiction problems.
In addition, he testified about what he learned in his alcohol classes after we prepared him repeatedly for this hearing. He also testified that he suffered a number of symptoms of alcohol abuse and dependence, and then finally testified as to the lifestyle changes that he had made so that there was less chance of him relapsing in the future. After hearing his testimony, the Secretary of State found that my client was credible, and because he addressed all of the problems associated with the alcoholism and the DUIs, and had changed his ways, the Sec State granted him full clearance of his license in Illinois. After submitting the proper paperwork and the full reinstatement fee to the Secretary of State, he is now driving with a valid license in his home state.
