As an Illinois drivers license reinstatement lawyer for the past 15 years, I've represented hundreds and hundreds of people who have had their license revoked in Illinois based off of driving under the influence of alcohol charges. Great news for those people who have been considered lifetime revocations or lifetime bans in Illinois due to the fact that they had four or more DUI arrests in their lives!
The new law allows those who were previously considered to be a lifetime ban or a lifetime permanent revocation to have a hearing in Illinois to reinstate their driving privileges. If the last DUI arrest was five years ago and the petitioner has been abstinent for at least three years the petitioner will be eligible for a restricted driving permit after January 1, 2016.
The treatment requirements for the Secretary of State still apply to those seeking the restricted driving permit in Illinois after being permanently revoked, but at least there is now hope to get back up and driving if you previously had no hope at all. If you're looking for a successful result in obtaining your drivers license in Illinois, feel free to contact Illinois license reinstatement lawyer John W Callahan at any time.
