As a license reinstatement lawyer in Illinois who has handled hundreds of Secretary of State cases, I meet with many clients who, when I first meet with them, want to rush through the process and say whatever the Secretary of State wants to hear. Bad strategy. When you go into a formal administrative hearing to reinstate your driver's license, the Secretary of State has an attorney present whose job it is to cross examine your testimony. They are trained to look for lies and even half-truths. If they find that you are not credible or believable you will not be reinstated.
I tell all of my clients that the best way to get your license back on the first try is to take more time in the preparation of the hearing so that you can answer completely honestly and truthfully. The Secretary of State will believe your testimony and you will be reinstated. Stay away from lawyers who tell you to get your treatment documents and they will go over the materials in the lobby of the Secretary of State' hearing office. I have numerous clients who retained me after they went through painful hearings with other lawyers and I take it as my best compliment when these clients tell me how different and professional I treated them. That is why I love doing reinstatement hearings.
Feel free to take a look at some of my good results or call me anytime if you need help with your license.
