Have you had a drivers license in a state other than Illinois for several years? After you go to renew your license is Illinois placing a hold it on due to a DUI from a long time ago? I have seen several clients currently who have that exact same scenario. Due to the problem driver ledger system and the national drivers database I have many clients and talk to many people every day who have no contact with Illinois yet can't renew their license because Illinois indicates to the national drivers database that you should not be valid.
I recently helped someone who had four previous DUI arrests from 1982, 1985, 1988 and 1989. This person had no other DUI arrests for the past 23 years and he had a valid drivers license in his state for the entire period of time. When he went to renew his driver's license six months ago, his states told him that he cannot renew due to the fact of Illinois indicated his license was revoked. We prepared the client and proceeded to a formal hearing and after one hearing our client was fully reinstated and is now eligible to obtain full driving privileges in his home state.
If you are having problems renewing your drivers license in your home state due to the fact that Illinois says you are involved in Illinois, you can contact John Callahan or Mike Norris at any time to help you reinstate your drivers license.
