How Long Do I have after I have been granted a restricted driving permit to get it activated?

Posted by John Callahan | May 13, 2013 | 0 Comments

As a license reinstatement lawyer in Illinois, many clients ask me how long do they have to comply with the terms of a restricted driving permit? I knew that my clients had 90 days to complete the requirements of the driving permit but I wanted to give them the exact code so, here it is …

Section 1001.110 Orders; Notification; Time Limits on Obtaining Relief

Petitioners who are granted a restricted driving permit must complete the requirements for obtaining the permit within 90 days after the date of the Secretary's Order. The Department reserves the discretion to extend this deadline in order to allow a petitioner to achieve compliance, when it is apparent that the petitioner is making a good faith effort or the petitioner demonstrates that he or she has experienced a change in circumstances that requires the petitioner to provide additional information (such as, but not limited to, a change in employment).
