I have been representing people charged with DUI in Illinois as well as helping people get their license reinstated after being convicted for a driving under the influence charge for nearly 17 years. In the past two years, I have received many more calls than usual from people who live outside of Illinois who are looking to clear their license in Illinois from a conviction that caused their license to be revoked.
These people often ask if they should fill out the out-of-state hearing application and mail it in or should they come in for an actual formal administrative hearing with the Secretary of State to reinstate their license. I always tell them that the best way to clear your license is to come back to Illinois for one day to have an actual formal administrative hearing as that gives you the best chance of clearing your actual drivers license.
While there are many steps necessary to set the table for a good Secretary of State hearing, the steps are predictable and we have tons of experience at representing people at these administrative hearings. Before you ever actually attend the hearing we will have several formal practice hearings either over the phone or in person to get you acclimated and prepared so that your real hearing will be comfortable and relaxed.
If you have any questions about trying to clear your Illinois license from a DUI license revocation, feel free to contact my office at any time to discuss your case.
