For the past 15 years, one of my most enjoyable practice areas has been getting people's licenses clear in Illinois. I have seen clients who have not had their license for 28 years or more and nothing makes me happier then to take them to a formal administrative hearing with the Illinois Secretary of State to clear their license. From people with only one DUI arrest to several who have had five or more DUI arrests, I have seen it all. But the one consistency throughout this process is that everyone reviews their treatment and mistakes from their past DUIs and after preparing them for the hearing, the clients take the process incredibly seriously.
While I have had hundreds of clients proceed to a formal license hearing with the Secretary of State, I am aware of only one out of that entire group of people who have had a subsequent problem with an alcohol related offense in my career. That is a recidivism rate of less than 1%. One of the things that interest me the most about this process is that several of my clients have had much worry and anxiety about actually going through the hearing process. Sometimes I show them some successful cases that I have had and other times I just talk to them and indicate that as long as they listen to me, they will have a smooth hearing with the Secretary of State.
If you're looking to clear your license in Illinois or to obtain a license reinstatement through the Secretary of State, do not hesitate to call with any questions you might have about clearing your license.
