As a lawyer in Illinois who helps people from within the State of Illinois and outside the State of Illinois get their driver's license back, I try to have the same routine prior to performing a hearing at the Secretary of State.
A few days before the hearing itself, I will meet with the client in person at my office or at the very least do a phone conference to review the questions and answers that the client should be ready for when the hearing happens. At that meeting, I review with the client and ensure that he or she has the required treatment documents for the hearing.
Finally, on the day of the hearing I always try to get to the Secretary of State at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled hearing time to deal with any minor snafus that arise.
