I have been representing clients who have been charged with a DUI and lost their driving privileges in Illinois, around the Schaumburg and Chicago areas, for over 17 years. What many people do not realize is that a person can permanently lose their driving privileges if they receive a fourth conviction for a DUI.
A fourth Conviction for a DUI is an Aggravated DUI and a Class 2 felony. A fourth DUI conviction carries a penalty of revocation of a person's driving privileges for life with no relief available and suspension of the person's vehicle registration. If the individual committed the fourth DUI with a BAC of 0.16 or more they receive a mandatory minimum fine of $5,000. If the individual committed the fourth DUI while transporting a child under the age of 16 years old there is a mandatory fine of $25,000 and mandatory 25 days of community service in a program benefiting children.
