Another Successful Hearing Result

October 2019

Another successful case.

We recently obtained an order granting driving relief for a client who had three DUI arrests and was categorized as a high-risk dependent in remission.  The client was able to testify credibly as to his drinking patterns before the DUI as well as his drug use patterns.  It was helpful in this case that the Petitioner had remained abstinent for more than eight years and we were able to utilize support group forms from AA as well as providing treatment documents to the Secretary of State, indicating how seriously he took his sobriety.  After a hearing, the client was granted a Restricted Driving Permit for support-group purposes as well as employment purposes and he is now back on the road driving.  Another new client was granted a Restricted Driving Permit after having been arrested for three DUIs back in the 1990's.  After making sure that we were able to get proper documentation and his treatment verification was complete, the Petitioner in this case also testified that he had changed from using AA to what is called a non-traditional support group and was self-employed.  After testifying credibly as to his relapse triggers, pursuant to the diagnostic and statistical manual of symptoms and criteria of abuse and dependence, the client was granted a permit through the Secretary of State formal administrative hearing process.
